Oath of Office

Are you a new township official? Does your township have a newly elected official? Will you be appointing a new official? If you answered yes to any of these questions, be sure to have them complete an oath of office in accordance with section 501 of the Second Class Township Code before assuming the duties of the office.

Please be advised that in accordance with Section 501 of the Township Code, the oath of office must be administered by a notary public, district justice, or judge. A copy of the oath must also be filed with the township secretary before assuming the duties of the office. Additionally, Section 1902 and Section 1914 of the Township Code allow the chairman of the board of supervisors to swear in township police officers and special fire police officers.
