PSATS Monitoring Coronavirus Developments

Tuesday March 10th, 2020
PSATS is taking all developments concerning the coronavirus (COVID-19) seriously and will continue to closely monitor the situation. There are no plans to postpone or cancel the 2020 PSATS Educational Conference and Exhibit Show at this time. We have received no cancellations from exhibitors at the event related to the risk, and registrations are exceeding previous years.

Our conference is a full two months away so any attempt to second guess the course of this virus would be premature. For now, we are proceeding as planned but keeping an eye on the situation.

We will continue to remain in discussion with health authorities and the Association's Executive Board and will work to ensure the highest possible degree of hygiene, safety, and medical care at the conference. The health and safety of all of our attendees are our highest priority.

The Hershey Lodge has provided us with its protocol for the health and safety of its guests, and we would like to share this with you now:

The safety and security of our guests and employees is a top priority across the destination. We are closely monitoring the Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) situation and are following updates from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). In matters of public health, our company receives guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Health and other state agencies, health care providers, and the CDC. This is consistent with our past practice and planning related to other global health concerns.

Under normal circumstances, our teams conduct rigorous cleaning of all guest rooms and public spaces several times throughout the day as our company maintains high cleaning, sanitation, and disinfection standards, which meet or exceed established industry guidelines. Given the current concerns related to COVID-19, we are increasing our cleaning, sanitation, and disinfection frequency above our already high standards.

Additionally, we have increased the number of hand sanitation machines available throughout our properties and are reminding our team members of the recommended precautionary steps from the CDC to prevent the spread of germs. We will continue to collaborate with health officials and monitor the situation for changes in order to take the appropriate steps to ensure the safety of our visitors and team members. Hershey Lodge will continue to remain vigilant in keeping our employees and guests informed.

Please rest assured that PSATS has its members’ and vendors’ best interests at heart and will continue to communicate with you if the status of the conference changes. For now, we are optimistic that the efforts under way to contain the spread of this virus will be successful, especially given the amount of time between now and our conference in May.
