Reminder: Child Labor Law Limits Types of Work Performed by Minors

Is your township looking to hire minors to help out over the summer? The state Department of Labor and Industry has issued a reminder that the state’s Child Labor Law limits working hours and the types of work that may minors may perform.  

All minors must have a written statement acknowledging the duties and hours of employment and granting permission to work. In addition, there are restrictions for hours, as well as jobs that those who are 16 and 17 years old may perform, and there are more limitations on jobs that those who are 14 and 15 years old may do.
