PSATS Municipal Government Academy

Welcome to the PSATS Municipal Government Academy, which provides elected and appointed local government officials with certification and recognition for the achievement of professional development goals.

A collective commitment to more effective and efficient local government is the hallmark of this program.

Background

Today's elected and appointed local government officials must have a well-rounded understanding of a host of subjects to provide strong, effective leadership. Rapidly evolving technologies and ever-changing state and federal regulations add to the ongoing challenges.

The PSATS Municipal Government Academy provides the educational opportunities and tools officials need to better understand and carry out all aspects of local government administration.

Although the Academy is focused on elected township officials, the program is open to appointed township officials as well.

Education tracks

PMGA offers several certification tracks:

  • Planning
  • Administration
    • Human Resources
    • Finance
  • Leadership
  • Public Works
  • Communication
  • Public Safety

How it works

Participants will earn credits by attending both live and virtual training sessions, educational conferences, and meetings, as well as for their involvement in public service opportunities. Credits earned will lead to various levels of certification.

Applicants meeting all PMGA requirements by January 31 of each year will be recognized during the PSATS Annual Educational Conference and Trade Show.
