2 Townships Receive Grants for Electric Vehicles, Charging Stations
The state Department of Environmental Protection awarded $2.3 million to 27 projects for a switch to electric vehicles through the Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant program (AFIG.) This program supports projects to replace older gasoline or diesel fueled vehicles with cleaner fuel and install related fueling infrastructure. Warrington Township, Bucks County received $15,000 towards the purchase of two electric passenger vehicles. East Pikeland Township, Chester County received $5,625 towards the purchase of an electric pickup and $49,585 to install a DC Fast charger for use by the township police fleet. Philadelphia got $300,000.
