PennDOT Submits State Plan for Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Deployment
The state Department of Transportation has submitted the State Plan for Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Deployment required by the Federal Highway Administration. The plan is required to receive formula funding through the new National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program created by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
PennDOT will receive and distribute $171.5 million in NEVI funds for EV charging infrastructure over the next five years. The Pennsylvania NEVI Plan outlines PennDOT’s approach to the strategic deployment of an EV charging network for Pennsylvanians and visitors. Stakeholder input resulted in additional consideration for first responder training in EV response and appropriate signage and location identification.
