PennDOT Offers Select Drivers Facing Suspension Second Chance
The state Department of Transportation is now allowing select driving facing a suspension due to accumulation of points on their driving records or for a conviction of excessive speeding to have a second chance. If chosen, drivers must successfully complete a new Driver Improvement School (DIS) offered by the department to avoid a 15-day suspension. If they fail to complete the course, they must serve a 60-day suspension.
The DIS curriculum focuses on safety and addresses poor driver behaviors and judgment exhibited in “high risk” drivers. The six-hour course focuses on educating and assisting problematic drivers to identify why they engage in risky driving behavior and how to modify behavior and improve their driving habits.
