BIL Funds to Address PFAS in Drinking Water

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced $75 million from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will go to Pennsylvania to address contaminants like per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in drinking water.   

Funding will be available through EPA’s Emerging Contaminants in Small or Disadvantaged Communities (EC-SDC) Grant Program to promote access to safe and clean water in communities with less than 10,000 population and disadvantaged communities via investments in infrastructure, source water treatment for pollutants, and to conduct water quality testing. DEP’s Office of Water Programs will administer and oversee the program for the commonwealth.   EPA is also working to propose a PFAS National Primary Drinking Water Regulation in the coming weeks. The draft proposed rule is currently undergoing interagency review and EPA anticipates finalizing the rule by the end of 2023.
