Bipartisan Infrastructure Law – Rural Surface Transportation Grants Available
The U.S. Department of Transportation is taking applications for up to $675 million in funding from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s Rural Surface Transportation Grant program. Townships are eligible to apply through August 21, 2023.
The Rural program supports projects that improve and expand surface transportation infrastructure in rural areas, defined as urban areas that had a population less than 200,000 in the 2020 Census or areas outside of any urban area. Eligible projects include projects to improve a high-risk rural road; provide or increase access to an agricultural, commercial, energy, or intermodal facility; and develop, establish, or maintain an integrated mobility management system, a transportation demand management system, or on-demand mobility services.
Townships can find the NOFO, frequently asked questions, webinars, and other helpful resources on USDOT’s website.
