PSATS Submits Comments on Broadband Report
PSATS submitted comments to the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority on its draft Broadband Equity, Access, and Development Program report yesterday, which is required for federal funding. PSATS primary concern is ensuring that the funds go to providing, first and foremost, broadband service for unserved communities and their residents. While the Authority has conducted an online survey on broadband access, PSATS questioned why alternative means weren’t provided for completing the survey so that those without access could respond. In addition, PSATS took issue with the report’s allegations of the complexity of local permit processes for broadband and its call for a statewide permitting standard. Townships can and should manage their rights-of-way. Townships with unserved areas want service and will work to reduce or eliminate barriers. Click here to read the comments.
