Advanced Transportation Technology and Innovation (ATTAIN)  

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) has announced the availability of up to $120 million for the Advanced Transportation Technology and Innovation (ATTAIN) program. This program is funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for the purpose of deploying, installing, and operating advanced transportation technologies to improve safety, mobility, efficiency, system performance, intermodal connectivity, and infrastructure return on investment.  

ATTAIN funds may be used to deploy advanced transportation technologies, including:  

  • Advanced traveler information systems;   
  • Advanced transportation technologies to improve emergency evacuation and response by federal, state, and local authorities;   
  • Infrastructure maintenance, monitoring, and condition assessment;   
  • Integrated corridor management systems; and  
  • Electronic pricing, toll collection, and payment systems. 

Townships are eligible to apply through Friday, February 2, 2024. PennDOT will consider providing support for regionally supported proposals as applicable. The deadline for requesting PennDOT support is January 19, 2024 via the Transportation Federal Funding Opportunities Resource Account: RA-PDTRANSFEDFUNDOPP@pa.gov.
