Gov. Josh Shapiro announced that $194.3 million is being awarded for 28 drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and non-point source projects across 20 counties through the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST). In addition, the state Department of Environmental Protection recently announced the award of $101 million in 16 environmental restoration projects of abandoned mine lands as part of the Abandoned Mine Lands (AML) and Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) Grant Program. These projects are funded through the
Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and focus on reclaiming AML, decreasing AMD, or treating water through an AMD treatment facility. The awards are going to organizations that will be restoring creeks and rivers in townships across the state. Click here for information about these projects.
