$204 Million in Federal Broadband Funds to Provide Internet in Parts of 42 Counties 

The Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority announced the approval of $204 million in Broadband Infrastructure Program grant awards to 53 projects in 42 counties across Pennsylvania that will connect 40,000 homes and businesses to high-speed internet access. These funds will be matched by more than $200 million in private investment. These projects must be completed by December 31, 2026.  

These awards are funded from the federal Capital Projects Funds and will help pay for line extension and development projects, as well as large-scale regional infrastructure projects. These projects must deliver upload and download speeds of 100 Megabits per second, with priority given to fiber-optic development.  

The counties served by these projects include rural areas of Adams, Blair, Cambria, Indiana, Jefferson, Juniata, Perry, Mercer, McKean, Schuylkill, and Somerset, among others. Click here for the press release. Click here for the listing of projects by county (note: the list does not say which municipalities will be served).
