PA Receives Federal Approval to Move Forward with $1.16 Billion in Broadband Grants
The Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority announced that it has received approval for its Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Initial Proposal – Volume II from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). BEAD is a federal grant program through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law which provides each state funding to deploy broadband infrastructure to ensure that everyone has access to reliable, affordable, high-speed Internet service.
This approval brings PBDA another step closer to accessing Pennsylvania’s $1.16 billion in BEAD funding. PBDA will have one year to submit a Final Proposal to NTIA that details the outcome of the subgrantee selection process and how the state will ensure service to all unserved and underserved locations. One the final plan is approved, PBDA will begin a four-year implementation process to connect communities across the commonwealth. To learn more, click here.
