EPA Awards Brownfield Grants to Pennsylvania Communities
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced more than $16 million in grant awards to assess and cleanup brownfield sites in Pennsylvania. Grant awards will go to Cresson Township, Cambria County to clean up the Cresson Ridge site. Butler County will receive funds to assess, develop cleanup and reuse plans, and support community engagement activities in Butler City and the Townships of Allegheny, Slippery Rock, and Cranberry, including a vacant and demolished former steel factory, a former jeep production facility, former industrial park, and stone quarry. Grant funds also will be used to inventory sites, conduct assessments, and support area-wide planning and community engagement activities in the North Central Region, focusing on Cameron, Clearfield, and Potter Counties.
