Avoid Ticks and Lyme Disease This Summer

Summer months are the highest months for Lyme Disease and other tickborne illness outbreaks across the country. Pennsylvania ranks number one in the country for Lyme disease cases, peaking with over 25,000 cases in July of 2023 alone! Township officials and staff should remember to use insect repellent when working or spending time outdoors. Wear protective clothing that is light in color and covers most of your skin. You can also treat clothing and gear with products containing 0.5% permethrin. When wrapping up for the day, take a shower and conduct a thorough tick check!
