Townships Receive Multimodal Grants; New Grant Round Opens September 23
Gov. Josh Shapiro has announced funding for 66 transportation projects in 32 counties using over $51 million in Multimodal Transportation Fund grants. Twenty-eight townships will receive nearly $20 million in grant funds while many more will see projects take place within their borders. One project in Union County will bundle the replacement of six municipal-owned bridges. To learn more about the projects, click here.
These grants are intended to ensure a safe and reliable system of transportation for all Pennsylvanians and are administered by the state Department of Transportation. Several projects will help townships address bridges and roads in need of repair or replacement.
“Infrastructure is critical to our commonwealth’s progress, and our ability to complete major projects is key to spurring economic growth and creating real opportunity,” said Gov. Shapiro. “Investing in and improving our infrastructure is a common-sense way to spur economic development, create jobs, and help Pennsylvanians reach their destinations safely and efficiently. These improvements will help our communities grow as we continue working together to move Pennsylvania forward.”
PennDOT also announced that a new grant round will be opening September 23, and applications will be due November 5. This funding is expected to be available for projects in July 2025 and is for projects with a total cost of $100,000 to $3 million. This is a reimbursement grant program, and only costs incurred after the date of a fully executed agreement are eligible for payment. Click here to learn more about the program.
