Several Townships Receive Funding from Broadband Public Facilities Grants
The Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority announced the approval of $45 million yesterday in Multi-Purpose Community Facilities grant funding to 49 projects in 26 counties across the commonwealth. The funding will help connect Pennsylvanians to the internet at community centers, libraries, and more. Four townships will receive grants and nine more will see their residents benefit from broadband access at facilities, such as libraries and health centers, located in their communities.
Fox Township in Elk County received $1.6 million to construct a History and Humanities Center to serve the township and surrounding communities, including a public cybercafe and wi-fi hot spot. Liberty Township in Susquehanna County received a grant for $787,322 to rehabilitate an existing public venue and establish a central hub for the community to address the public’s critical need for broadband access to essential services.
