PENNVEST Awards Water, Wastewater Grants and Loans
The Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority announced the investment of $216.3 million in 33 drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and non-point source projects across 21 counties. Two townships are recipients of these funds and many more will benefit from grants that will enable an authority to improve service to township residents. Much of the drinking water funding went to authorities and utilities serving boroughs and cities and will be used to replace lead service lines in compliance with state and federal mandates.
Bratton Township, Mifflin County received a $5.47 million grant and $943,574 loan for upgrades to its wastewater treatment plant and several pump stations. Telford Borough Authority, Bucks County will receive $9.8 million for removal of per- and polyfluoroalkyl (PFAS) contaminants from five well stations that provide water to the borough and portions of Franconia, Hilltown, and West Rockhill Townships.
