PennDOT Invites Students to Solve Transportation Funding Challenge
Students in grades 9-12 are invited to participate in the state Department of Transportation’s PennDOT Innovations Challenge, which encourages students to solve real-world transportation challenges in a competition with their peers. Submissions are due December 18.
This year’s challenge asks students to develop an innovative and implementable solution that helps address Pennsylvania’s transportation revenue shortfall by identifying new funding streams, other than additional gas taxes, tolls, or mileage-based user fees, to help ensure adequate transportation funding for the future. Regional winners will be selected and invited to compete for a state championship, where a combined total award of $5,500 will be divided among the top three teams.
