Pick Up Pennsylvania Litter Campaign Begins September 1

The “Pick Up Pennsylvania” campaign of litter cleanup events will take place September 1 through November 30. The state Department of Environmental Protection, the state Department of Transportation, Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, and other partners are sponsoring the program.

Organizers of registered events can get free trash bags, gloves, and safety vests from DEP, PennDOT, Keep America Beautiful, GLAD Products Company, and the Ocean Conservancy while supplies last. Cleanups can take place in any location, including roadsides and parks. Families, civic organizations, and local governments are invited to participate. Volunteers must take proper steps to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, including limiting the size of outdoor groups to 250 or less and indoor groups to 25 or less, as well as wearing masks and practicing social distancing.
