Pa. COVID-19 Cases, Hospitalizations, Deaths Drop
1,168 new cases of COVID-19 were reported last week, a 17.5% decrease over the prior week. The statewide COVID-19 total case count now stands at 1,214,187. There were only 12 states with rate increases with Missouri, Arkansas, and Florida making up the top three.
For the 12th week in a row, the number of COVID-19 hospitalizations in Pennsylvania has decreased from 293 to 267, down 9%. Fifty-eight of these patients are in an ICU, up from 53 the prior week. The number of COVID-19 patients on a ventilator statewide decreased from 44 to 39.
Deaths attributed to COVID-19 in Pennsylvania decreased for the seventh week in a row. Forty-two deaths were reported this week, 21% less than in the previous week. Total deaths in Pennsylvania have reached 27,749.
After decreasing for 11 straight weeks, Pennsylvania’s statewide percent-positivity rate increased slightly from 1.1% to 1.2% this week and remains below 5% for the eighth week in a row. 65 counties now have rates less than 5%.
