Winter is coming, and the state Department of Transportation and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission are gearing up for it. PennDOT has budgeted nearly $200 million for this winter’s statewide operations, deploys about 4,700 workers, and has more than 560,000 tons of salt on hand across the state. PennDOT is actively seeking more than 600 temporary equipment operators statewide to supplement its full-time staff.
