Are You Frustrated with PennDOT’s Current Spending Priorities? There’s Still Time to Tell PennDOT How to Spend Transportation Funds; Online Forum Tomorrow Night
Every two years, the State Transportation Commission and PennDOT gather feedback on Pennsylvania’s transportation system as part of the 12-Year Transportation Program update. If you have not done so already and want to change the funding allocations, click here to take the survey by April 30. Township officials may also participate in an Online Public Forum tomorrow, April 12, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. To participate in the forum, contact PennDOT’s Program Center by email at RA-PennDOTSTC@pa.gov or phone at (717) 783-2262. Click here for more on the forum.
Township officials and their residents are encouraged to participate and help identify whether state and federal funds should be spent on traditional road and bridge projects or alternate networks like mass transit, trails (bike/ped), aviation and ports; or a combination. Participants identify how they travel throughout the commonwealth (by car, mass transit, bike, etc.) More important, participants can identify a transportation problem at a specific location on a map and provide a description to encourage PennDOT to address the issue. Finally, participants determine how to spend a mythical $100 across six transportation categories.
