After seven years, the Borough of Mahanoy City in Schuylkill County is no longer considered distressed under Act 47. The state Department of Community and Economic Development announced yesterday that it has terminated Mahanoy City’s distressed status due to improvements in its management practices and fiscal situation, including elimination of an $800,000 deficit.
