Breach of Information Notice Act Now in Effect
Last week, Act 151 of 2022 went into effect. This new act requires the state and local governments to notify affected individuals within seven business days following determination of a breach or release of personal information, such as driver’s license numbers, financial account numbers or credit or debit card numbers, medical and health insurance information, and username and password. Local governments are also now required to notify the district attorney of a breach within three business days.
