Cabot Successor Accepts Plea, Funds Water Line Construction in Dimock Township
Atty. Gen. Josh Shapiro announced that Coterra Energy Inc., formerly Cabot Oil and Gas, has pleaded no contest to environmental crimes in northeast Pennsylvania. As part of the plea, Coterra will pay $16.29 million to construct a new public water supply in Dimock Township, Susquehanna County, and payment of 75 years of water bills for impacted homeowners. Private wells were contaminated with methane pollution due to drilling activities, including a drinking water well that exploded in January 2009. Residents were forced to travel for drinking water.
