Commonwealth Preserves Farmland 
The state Department of Agriculture has announced the preservation of 2,046 acres on 24 farms in 10 counties through the state’s Farmland Preservation Program, which protects farms from future residential, commercial, or industrial development. The newly preserved farms are in Berks, Bucks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton, Wyoming, and York counties. Several townships, including Bedminster Township, Bucks County, and Silver Spring Township, Cumberland County, invested significant amounts of township funds to preserve farms in their communities.
