Commonwealth Requires Masks for Schools, Daycare
After weeks of supporting local decision-making for school masking, the Commonwealth has reversed course. The state Secretary of Health has issued a new order requiring masks to be worn in all K-12 school buildings, public and private. The order also applies to early learning programs and childcare providers. The order takes effect after Labor Day, Tuesday, September 7. There are exceptions, including during physical education classes if social distancing is maintained and during sports practices and events, both indoor and outdoor. Click here for more.
Township officials should note that masking at township meetings, on township property and for township employees remains a local decision.
