Community Facilities Loans & Grants Available for Spring 2024 Projects
The U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development is accepting applications for FY2024 of the Community Facilities Direct Loan & Grant Program. This program provides funding to develop essential community facilities in rural areas. Townships with no more than 20,000 residents according to the latest U.S. Census are eligible to apply for low-interest direct loans and grants throughout the year.
As of January 1, the interest rate for loans is 3.75% and is fixed for the life of the loan. Rural Development is accepting applications now for construction and equipment projects for spring 2024.
Funds can be used to purchase, construct, and/or improve essential community facilities, purchase equipment, and pay related project expenses. Examples of essential community facilities include but are not limited to: public facilities (town halls, airport hangars, street improvements), community support services (community centers, fairgrounds), and public safety services (fire departments, police stations, police vehicles, fire trucks, public works vehicles, or equipment).
