Data Shows Roundabouts Reduce Fatalities, Crashes
The state Department of Transportation has released data for 22 roundabouts on state routes at intersections that were previously stop- or signal-controlled. The roundabouts selected had at least three years of crash data available before and after the roundabouts were built. Data based on police crash reports from 2000 through 2019 show that fatalities at these locations were reduced by 100 percent and total crashes decreased by 24 percent. Suspected serious injuries also declined by 78 percent. To learn more, including the location of the roundabouts in the review, click here.
