DEP Collects Penalties from Sunoco for Mariner East 2 Pipeline

Sunoco Pipeline, L.P. has agreed to consent assessments for civil penalties with the state Department of Environmental Protection. Sunoco will pay $660,000 for various violations of the Clean Streams Law and the Dam Safety and Encroachments Act during the construction of the Mariner East 2 Pipeline between 2018 and 2021. The violations took place in townships in Berks, Blair, Cambria, Chester, Cumberland, Delaware, Perry, and York Counties. The funds will go to the commonwealth’s Clean Water Fund, Dams and Encroachment Fund, and the Chester County Conservation District. Click here to learn more about the consent assessments.
