Federal Fire Prevention and Safety Grants Available
The Federal Emergency Management Agency is now accepting applications for the FY 2020 Fire Prevention and Safety (FP&S) Grant Program until February 26. FP&S grants are offered to support projects in two activities: fire prevention and safety (FP&S) and firefighter safety research and development (R&D).
Eligible applicants for FP&S include fire departments and national, regional, state, local, tribal, and nonprofit organizations that are recognized for their experience and expertise in fire prevention and safety programs and activities. Eligible applicants for the firefighter safety R&D activity include national, state, local, federally recognized tribal, and nonprofit organizations.
$35.5 million is available for FP&S to support approximately 150 awards of up to $1.5 million each. Applicants applying under the early career investigator project category are limited to awards of up to $75,000 per project year. Applicants must provide at least 5 percent of the award amount via nonfederal cash or in-kind contributions.
