FEMA 2022 Non-Disaster Mitigation Grants Available 

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has opened Federal Fiscal Year 2022 Non-Disaster Mitigation Grants:   

• Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) Notice of Funding Opportunity  
• Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) Notice of Funding Opportunity  

Townships are eligible to apply for funding through the PEMA as a subrecipient of the state. The application window for townships closes on November 16.   

To start the grant application process, townships MUST submit the required Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) Letter of Interest by October 19, 2022. The Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program focuses on reducing or eliminating risk and damage from future natural hazards disasters, risks, and hazards, including those associated with climate change. BRIC funds may be used for capability and capacity building activities, and mitigation projects. The Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA) program will have $800 million (up from $160 million last year) available nationally. FMA funds may be used for projects that reduce or eliminate the risk of repetitive flood damage to buildings insured by the National Flood Insurance Program including: project scoping, technical assistance, community flood mitigation projects, and individual structure/property-level flood mitigation projects.
