Fixed Award Grant Program
This funding opportunity is designed to support small, community-driven clean energy projects requiring $500,000 to $5 million in federal funding. This opportunity will award fixed-amount grants to support projects that deliver measurable benefits to energy customers in rural or remote areas, support new rural or remote energy system models, and/or build clean energy knowledge, capacity, and self-reliance in rural America. “Rural or Remote” is defined for this program as a city, town, or unincorporated area that has a population of not more than 10,000 inhabitants.
Eligible uses of this funding include improving energy efficiency, as well as developing microgrids, modernizing electric generation facilities, reducing greenhouse gas emissions from energy generation, siting or upgrading transmission and distribution lines, and improving cost-effectiveness of energy systems.
