Halfway Through State Fiscal Year Commonwealth Revenues Underwater
Last Thursday, The Pennsylvania Department of Revenue released the Commonwealth’s December 2024 collections figures, which show the month was $87.3 million less than expected. Pennsylvania’s General Fund collections year-to-date are $20.2 billion and 0.5% below estimate, but within 2% of the Department’s projections. Personal income tax revenue is 1.3% below estimate year-to-date while realty transfer tax revenue is 4.6% more than anticipated for the mid-point. Revenue Secretary Pat Browne remains optimistic.
The Motor License Fund, which includes gas and diesel taxes, was $1.5 million below estimate for the month, but $56 million or 3.8% above estimate for the year-to-date. Click here for the press release.
