Local Government Cybersecurity Clearinghouse Website Available
Townships can now access resources to help combat the threat of cyberattacks with a new web clearinghouse. The new resources grew out of a January hearing held by the Senate Communications and Technology and Senate Local Government committees that focused on cybersecurity threats to local governments. According to a study cited at the hearing, 69% of state and local governments reported being hit by ransomware in 2023. PSATS participated in the hearing.
The webpage covers such topics as how local governments can access alerts from the federal Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, conduct cybersecurity assessments, protect emergency communication systems, and access information about funding opportunities.
