Looking for $$ to Balance Your Budget? Check for Unclaimed Property!

Each year, the PA Treasury Department receives millions of dollars in unclaimed property. Common types of unclaimed property are savings or checking accounts, stocks, dividends, checks that have not been cashed, such as payroll, certificates of deposit, unclaimed insurance benefits, insurance premium refunds, and the like. State Treasurer Stacey Garrity has prioritized returning this property to its rightful owners.

Don’t miss out! Treasury returned $31,000 to Willistown Township, Chester County to benefit township residents. This included individual township accounts ranging from $20 to $28,788, with the oldest dating back to 1998. Unclaimed Property examples included accounts payable checks, a dividend check, escrow accounts, a matured life policy fund, and an unclaimed check.

Taylor Township in Lawrence County recently received more than $172,000 in unclaimed property. This included four individual accounts ranging in value from $10.85 to $172,238. These properties included funds from credit balances, uncashed checks, and a certificate of deposit.
