PennDOT Accepting Alternative Proof of SSN for REAL ID
The Shapiro-Davis Administration has expanded the documents that it will accept to provide proof of Social Security number for REAL ID products. The newly expanded PennDOT list includes a Social Security card, a W-2 form, an SSA-1099 form, a non-SSA-1099 form, or a pay stub with the applicant’s name and full Social Security number on it. Please note that the name on the proof must still be the current legal name of the applicant.
REAL ID will require compliant driver’s licenses and ID cards beginning May 7, 2025, for entering a federal building that requires federal ID or boarding a domestic flight. A Pennsylvania REAL ID driver’s license or ID card, a valid U.S. Passport or Passport card, or military ID will meet this requirement. Click here for the press release.
