PennDOT Clarifies Special Event Permit Rules

The state Department of Transportation has released a fact sheet with rules for its special event permit. Special event permits are used to authorize temporary road closures and other event-related uses of PennDOT’s right of way. PennDOT does not permit or sanction the event itself, only the occupancy. The department must receive applications at least three weeks before the date of the event. 

During the pandemic, additional language will be included with these permits requiring applicants to follow Pennsylvania Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control guidance, including limits for outdoor events or gatherings. Click here for the fact sheet.
