Prepare for Emergencies with Flood Insurance
The state Insurance Department is urging property owners to prepare for weather-related emergencies, including considering purchasing flood insurance to protect their homes and possessions. Homeowners’ insurance does not cover storm damage due to flooding, which is the most common threat in Pennsylvania. Flood insurance normally has a 30 day waiting period so don’t delay until the rain starts. Flood insurance is now available through the private market in addition to the National Flood Insurance Program. The Department also has a helpful brochure that contains tips on what to do after a storm if you have damage. Click here to learn more.
