PUC Alerts Consumers of December 1 Energy Price Changes
The Pa. Public Utility Commission released a notice yesterday that most electric utilities will adjust electric generation prices charged to non-shopping customers effective Decembers 1. These changes are for the generation and supply charge for energy and is the utility’s “Price to Compare.” Customers may shop for lower rates than the PTC. Many adjustments are decreases ranging from an 8.6% decrease for Duquesne Light to a drop of 25.7% for Wellsboro Electric, with Citizens’ Electric, PECO, PPL, and UGI Electric also reporting decreases. Increases are being reported by Met-Ed, Penelec, Penn Power, Pike Co. Light & Power, and West Penn Power, with a high of 10.4% increase by Met-Ed.
Natural gas companies are also changing their Price to Compare on December 1. Columbia, PECO, UGI Utilities, and Valley Energy are reporting decreases, with Valley Energy decreasing by 64.2%. Natural Fuel Gas, Peoples Natural Gas Co., Peoples Gas Co., and Philadelphia Gas Works are reporting increases, with Peoples increasing by 149%. To learn more, read the press release.
