Reminder: New Federal Overtime Rule Effective January 1, 2025

Keep in mind as your township develops its budget that beginning January 1, 2025, federal regulations will require overtime to be paid to all workers earning less than $58,656 per year or $1,128 per week if these employees work more than 40 hours per week, regardless of job duties. The current threshold is $844 per week or $43,888 annually. As a reminder, federal law requires that hours be tracked for employees who are under the threshold to ensure that they are properly paid. Click here for a video on ideas on managing employees under this new rule.
