Reminder: Tuition Assistance Available for EMS Professionals  

The Shapiro Administration has a $1 million tuition assistance program for emergency medical services (EMS) professionals. Administered by the state Department of Health, the program is funded by a portion of the Fireworks Tax and will be in place for three years.   

Pennsylvania residents who obtained a state certification as an emergency medical responder (EMR), emergency medical technician (EMT), advanced emergency medical technician (AEMT), or paramedic after July 1, 2023, are eligible to have a portion of their tuition reimbursed. EMTs would be eligible for up to $800 while paramedics would be eligible for up to $5,000.  

In addition, EMS agencies licensed in Pennsylvania are eligible to receive a reimbursement for recruitment and retention efforts of up to $1,250 per year. Click here to learn more about the program.
