Rural Surface Transportation Grants Available Until May 6
The U.S. Department of Transportation recently announced the availability of over $700 million to the Multimodal Project Discretionary Grants - Rural Surface Transportation Grant Program. This program offers funding for highway, bridge, and tunnel projects that provide or increase access to agricultural, commercial, energy, or transportation facilities supporting rural economies. Townships are eligible to apply through May 6, 2024.
The department will consider a project to be in a rural area if the majority of the project is located in a rural area, defined as an urban area that had a population less than 200,000 in the 2020 Census, or outside of any urban area.
