Senate Confirms One Cabinet Secretary, Three More To Serve By Default

Three more acting secretaries will officially assume office today without further action by the Senate, as 25 legislative session days will have passed since the submission of their nominations. This includes Pat Browne as Secretary of Revenue; Al Schmidt as Secretary of the Commonwealth, and Val Arkoosh as Secretary of Human Services. This is only the second time a Cabinet Secretary has taken office without Senate approval.
