Shapiro Administration Announces 132 Oil and Gas Wells Plugged in 11 Months 

The Shapiro Administration announced that it has leveraged millions in historic federal funding to cap and plug 132 wells, more than the previous eight years combined. The state Department of Environmental Protection has allocated unprecedented resources to plug orphaned and abandoned wells, which has allowed Pennsylvania to be eligible for $400 million in federal funding. DEP is also using the funds to inspect and inventory more orphaned wells and implement a new enforcement strategy to go after operators who abandon wells. Click here for more.
