Signup for 2025-2026 COSTARS Salt Contract Ends March 15
Township officials are reminded that they can participate in the COSTARS Sodium Chloride (Road Salt) Contract for the approaching August 2025 – July 2026 season by submitting a new Salt Contract Participation Agreement no later than March 15, 2025. The program allows local governments to partner with the state to gain better pricing on road salt.
Note that townships are required to purchase at least 60% of the stated needs and the supplier will provide up to 140% of the requested tonnage at the contracted price, which will be available by August. The supplier may charge storage fees for any entity that does not meet their 60% minimum requirement.
