State, Townships Preserve Farmland
The state Department of Agriculture has announced the preservation of 1,519 acres on 22 farms in 11 counties through the state’s Farmland Preservation Program, which protects farms from future residential, commercial, or industrial development. The newly preserved farms are located in townships in Adams, Centre, Lancaster, Lehigh, Luzerne, Northampton, Schuylkill, Union, and York counties. Several townships, including Halfmoon in Centre County, invested significant amounts of township funds to preserve farms in their communities. To learn more about the preserved farms, click here.
