Townships Receive Act 13, Gaming Grants

The state Department of Community and Economic Development announced approval of 148 new projects by the Commonwealth Financing Authority for $16 million in grants and loans. These projects will be funded through Act 13 natural gas fees and include water quality, watershed restoration, sewage facilities, and flood mitigation programs; abandoned mine drainage and abandoned well plugging; and greenways, trails, and recreation programs. Townships were awarded more than 40 of these grants. In addition, the CFA awarded gaming grants for projects in Allegheny County, and many townships will receive this funding as well.

Neshannock Township, Lawrence County, will receive $100,000 for Hutchinson Community Center improvements. Towamencin Township, Montgomery County, will receive $50,000 for watershed restoration. West Manchester and West Manheim townships, York County, will each receive funds for Act 537 Sewage Facilities Planning. For the full list of approved projects, click here.
